Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan spoke to SuBo on Sunday, and wants the public to know that Boyle did not have a mental breakdown. She's just tired!
"I spoke to Susan yesterday. I don't think it's a breakdown," Morgan shared with Extra on Monday morning.
Overnight sensation Susan Boyle has been admitted to the Priory Clinic, a mental health rehabilitation center, following Saturday's Britain's Got Talent final, at which she came in second to dance troupe Diversity.
Brit tab The Sun reports: "The pressure finally told late yesterday as the Scots singer - dubbed SuBo by fans - was rushed to the private clinic suffering from exhaustion. Show aides had contacted police to say she was acting strangely at her London hotel. Paramedics helped the 'spaced-out' star through the lobby and into an ambulance just after 6pm. A Met Police Inspector and a police doctor were called to assist. The ambulance, tailed by a police car, then took her to the Priory in Southgate, North London. A source at the hotel said last night: 'The staff were concerned - something wasn't right. When the paramedics and police arrived she agreed to go voluntarily. She didn't make a fuss. The paramedics calmly took her out through the main lobby and into the waiting ambulance. It was all done very calmly. They didn't want to stress or upset her. She didn't look well - she looked lost, not all there.'"
American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has admitted that she was bowled over when she first caught Susan Boyle’s Britain’s Got Talent audition on Youtube.
The Tattoo singer revealed that she wasn’t sure what to expect when she first heard about Boyle but came to support the ‘underdog’ after hearing her sing.
“I’m such a fan of Susan Boyle. I was hearing all this commotion about her, so I looked her up online,” she told The Sun.
“I thought one of two things, either she’s going to be really good or really bad. So when she opened her mouth and was amazing, the look on Simon Cowell’s face was priceless.”
She added: “The coolest thing was she walked out there just being her and everyone was like, ‘Yeah, right’.
“And then she opened her mouth and all of a sudden you saw everybody’s mood and attitude toward her change. Everybody loves an underdog story, especially me.”
"This is somebody who is absolutely exhausted. Emotionally, physically, mentally… Susan will be fine. She's just very tired. Susan is completely and utterly exhausted. I think she's found this whole roller coaster ride of the last seven weeks overwhelming… and she's gone somewhere now that she can find the peace and the quiet to get some sleep, to eat properly and get over what has been an astonishing time in her life."
The Britain's Got Talent judge chalks up Boyle's loss to the SuBo-hype the British public found themselves immersed in.
"They just got a bit bored, a bit irritated by the whole mania surrounding Susan," Piers revealed.
Morgan also believes Susan placing second in the competition will in turn be less detrimental to her mental health: "Personally I would have loved Susan to win, but I have to say having seen the way she's been overwhelmed by the fame, it may be the best thing to happen to her for her to come in second and be removed from the immediate limelight that the winner gets exposed to and can just chill out and get better soon."
We can't say we disagree!
Get well soon, SuBo!
We're rootin' for ya!
By now you probably have heard that Susan Boyle got beat in the finals of Britain's Got Talent and checked herself into a hospital. I really am afraid that maybe a singing career might not be the career for her. I realize there is a lot of money in her future, but I'm wondering if it is worth driving yourself mad to get it. Here is the winning performance from the dance group Diversity.
"Britain's Got Talent" judge Piers Morgan talks to "The Insider" about recent reports of Susan Boyle seeking medical attention for exhaustion.
Piers says of the show's runner-up, "Susan has collapsed from exhaustion, simple as that."
"She gave a stunning performance in the final," he says of the Internet sensation. "She put everything she had in it. ...and she's overwhelmed by what's been going on."
Piers says Susan is just "completely overtired."
Earlier, "Britain's Got Talent" released the following statement to "The Insider" regarding Susan's medical attention: "Following Saturday night's show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained. She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery. We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery."
Susan Boyle is being treated for exhaustion at a mental health clinic in London called The Priory. Susan Boyle entered the clinic afte the Britain's Got Talent final were she placed second but was the judges favorite. British TV producers say Susan just needs a few days rest. We hope she is feeling better soon.
The dance group called Diversity won Britain’s Got Talent. Their finale performance was amazing. It’s hard to beat incredible creativity like that, which is why Susan Boyle came in second.
Susan Boyle came from obscurity, then went into an emotional profanity riddled tirade recently, and after the competition mentally collapsed from exhaustion. Fame is hard to take. There were psychologists before the final show that said Boyle should not compete, because she may suffer a psychotic break. Boyle has checked into a facility that some reports suggest is a psychiatric clinic. We wish her well, and a speedy recovery.
As for Diversity, we hope someone hires the choreographer that put all their great performances together.
The burden of being an overnight sensation and remaining in the spotlight for a couple of months may have caught up to "Britain's Got Talent" runner-up Susan Boyle.
The 47-year-old singer, who finished second in the "Britain's Got Talent" finals over the weekend, checked into a hospital Sunday, according to numerous reports. The show's producers say in a statement that Boyle was exhausted and just needs some down time. "Following Saturday night's show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained," the statement reads. "She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery."
She was accompanied to the clinic by a police escort. A statement from Scotland Yard says "Police were called to doctors assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act. The woman was taken voluntarily by ambulance to a clinic. At the request of doctors, police accompanied the ambulance."
An audience of 18.5 million people -- the biggest for "Britain's Got Talent" broadcaster ITV in several years -- watched Boyle finish second in Saturday's finale to a dance group called Diversity (here's the group's finale performance, and here is Boyle's).
"Britain's Got Talent" judge Piers Morgan appeared on U.K. morning show "GMTV" Monday to say that he'd spoken with Boyle and that she simply needed to be out of the spotlight for a while.
"It has been crazy -- she has gone from anonymity to being the most downloaded woman in history," Morgan said. "She was very tired and hasn't been sleeping. She has just gone away to have some time to herself and to sleep and eat, doing all the things she hasn't been able to do in the last week."
